The Needle Valve gets its name from its unique design, featuring a tapered plug resembling a needle that moves up and down to control fluid flow. It's highly regarded for its precise flow control abilities, making it ideal for applications requiring accuracy, thanks to its small opening and elongated tapered plug.
Made primarily from bar stock or forged bodies, Needle Valves come in various body materials, from ferrous to non-ferrous alloys. Typically, these valves have female thread ends (NPT or BSP) for easy installation. The valve bodies undergo meticulous machining to include inlet and outlet ports, as well as the seat where the valve plug rests.
The Bonnet Assembly, also made from bar stock, includes crucial components like the threaded stem, valve plug, packing ring, gland nut, and handwheel or lever with lock nut and washer. A lock pin secures the bonnet to prevent it from loosening during operation.
